To be eligible to apply for MPC’s TRIO Upward Bound program, students must:

• Be a current 8th grade student

• Plan to attend Seaside High School, Marina High School, or Monterey High School

• Be income eligible (meet federal low income guidelines) and/or be a potential first generation college student (meaning neither parent earned a bachelor’s degree or higher)

• Be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident (through the Performance Partnership Pilot this is currently waived until September 2026)

• Have the goal to earn a college degree

Most importantly, students must demonstrate a desire and ability to succeed in high school and graduate from a four-year college. Students must understand the commitment to participate in Upward Bound and be willing to commit for all four years of high school.
