In this densely packed course, students explore the diverse array of techniques, procedures, and ethical issues involved in the investigation of crime.

Using hands-on exercises, students focus on:

  • Organizing the investigative process
  • Crime scene searches
  • Interviewing and interrogating witnesses and suspects
  • Surveillance
  • Sources of information
  • Utility of evidence
  • Scientific analysis of evidence; and
  • The role of the investigator in the trial process

Melanie Rogers earned her Associate’s Degree in Administration of Justice, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She has served as DA Investigator, search/rescue, and as a SWAT team member.
