PFIT 2 CORE FITNESS TRAINING

This course is designed to provide strengthening and stretching exercises that improve spine stabilization and core conditioning. It is beneficial for improved athletic performance, activities of daily living, and injury prevention.

PFIT 6 CROSS-TRAINING

This course is designed to develop aerobic fitness by concurrently training in two or more endurance activities (walking, running, biking, elliptical) combined with muscular endurance exercises. Emphasis is placed on the use of multiple aerobic activities plus muscular endurance exercises.

PFIT 8 AEROBIC CONDITIONING

This course focuses on the physiological principles of aerobic conditioning. Instruction is provided in physical adaptations to exercise, program design, and application and evaluation through testing and behavior modification. PFIT 13 STABILITY BALL TRAINING

Students are introduced to stretching and strengthening exercises on a stability ball. PFIT 51 FITNESS AND WELLNESS STRATEGIES

This course addresses lifetime wellness, considering psychological, social, and physiological factors. Students assess current lifestyle patterns in the areas of physical fitness, health risks, nutrition, and stress management. They develop reasonable, specific and measurable goals for behavioral change as part of a wellness/lifestyle plan. PFIT 60 FITNESS EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY

This course offers a basic introduction to exercise physiology including how carbohydrates and fats are used during exercise. The neuromuscular system, the cardiorespiratory system, and their responses and applications to exercise are covered. PFIT 63 FITNESS ANATOMY AND KINESIOLOGY

PFIT 82 THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE I

PFIT 84 SPORTS MASSAGE

Use sports massage techniques to enhance performance, reduce pain, increase mobility, and manage minor soft tissue injuries in athletes and non-athletes. Students learn the theory and techniques used for the three applications of sports massage: event massage, maintenance massage, and rehabilitative massage.

PFIT 92 TEACHING AIDE – PHYSICAL FITNESS

This course is designed for students who have the necessary knowledge and ability in an activity to serve as teaching aides for other students. It will provide experience in leading group or individual physical activities.

PFIT 180B MASSAGE LAB II

Course includes mentoring students in PFIT 180A, refining and integrating massage skills, and conducting all business activities necessary for operation of lab. May be taken for a maximum of two units.

PFIT 400 FITNESS ASSESSMENT LAB
