The MPC Art Gallery hosts six exhibits of contemporary art during each academic year. There are three 5-week long shows each semester in a wide range of media: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and metal arts, and digital media. We enjoy exhibiting high quality art which challenges traditional ideas, employs experimental methods and ideas, and fosters critical discussion. We offer exhibits in pairs, groups or solo.

We accept proposals from artists all across the U.S., including our Central California region. We also have periodic exhibits of MPC Art student and Art Department faculty work.

The MPC Art Gallery is a clean, open, modern facility with a beautiful space that is flexible enough for the installation of many kinds of art in innovative exhibit designs. (Click here to see our floor plan)

GalleryBldgPhoto2Our Mission:

The Monterey Peninsula Art Gallery exists as a resource for Monterey Peninsula College and the surrounding community, and in this role will strive to fulfill the following mandate: The MPC Art Gallery will educate and inspire students in the methods, materials and issues of contemporary art. It will initiate art exhibits that foster critical discussion of contemporary issues and exhibit the best student, faculty, regional and national art. The gallery will be an art environment conducive to discussion and examination of art in the twenty-first century, as well as a venue for art-related activities.

MPC staff and volunteers operate the Gallery under the advisement of the MPC Art Department faculty. The gallery staff and the Art Department faculty make curatorial and logistic decisions and are represented by a Selection Committee. This Selection Committee will make curatorial decisions based on the quality of the artwork, artistic merit and relationship to the gallery mission.
