Umoja Events Calendar
Each year, the Umoja Community partners with other groups on campus incluing the BSU and AAFSA, to sponsor a series of activities including cultural field trips, university visits, Umoja sponsored conferences and events, and opportunities for deeper understanding of African American culture and experiences. A sample of planned activities include:

- Umoja Mixer: Walking into the Village - August
- Team Building - Year Round
- Mentoring - Year Round
- "Who am I" Knowledge Olympics - October
- Umoja Conference - November
- Kwanzaa - December

28th Annual Rites of Passage Ceremony
The Rites of Passage Ceremony at Monterey Peninsula College honors and celebrates Black/African American students who have completed their degree or certification, or are transferring to a four-year university. The event takes place on May 18th at 6pm in the music hall and provides awards, scholarships, and guest speakers. It's a significant and inspiring event that recognizes the achievements and cultural identity of these students.
